The MCT or ‘medium chain triglyceride’ ketogenic diet uses an MCT fat supplement to replace some of the long chain triglycerides (LCTs) that are normally present in food. MCT can produce ketones more easily than LCT fats therefore less overall fat intake is required allowing for slightly more carbohydrate and protein in the diet.
